Homeless people are living on the streets because they don’t have houses. If there are more houses the houses will be more affordable and be more houses for the homeless.
In New Zealand there is a huge problem with housing. There are not enough houses for people to live in. So that means that people don’t have houses to live in. Also it means that they have to live on the streets and you don't want that to happen right?
This country has laws and we must abide by those laws. One of the laws are title of property. Which means people have the right to do whatever they want with the property if they buy it. That is what Fletchers did so that means they own the property and they can do whatever they want with it.
The treaty of waitangi is a treaty between the maori people and the crown The crown has broken the treaty sometimes and the process of fixing this is by going to the treaty of waitangi tribunal. If the government give back the land its gonna reopen treaty settle cases. This will cost the government millions.
In conclusion I think building more houses would be a good thing for the people that don’t have houses. I hope you can understand how important it would be to have more houses. Therefore
